Why this book
Drop The Rock, by Bill P., Todd W., and Sara S., takes on the two Steps that are easiest to read past. Six and Seven are a single sentence each in our basic text, and they ask for everything: becoming entirely ready to have defects of character removed, and then humbly asking for it.
The book's image is a swimmer being pulled under by a rock they refuse to let go of, while the boat waits. The rock is whatever we are still holding — resentment, fear, self-pity, the need to be right.
Steps Six and Seven are where the inventory stops being an exercise and starts costing something. That is the whole subject of this book, and it was the whole subject of this morning.
What we did
An overview of the book opened the morning, followed by open sharing — the longest stretch we had given to sharing at that point, because the material asks for it. Pizza at 11:45, then a full interactive Q&A panel with all the speakers, and fellowship to close.

What we took away
- Willingness is the whole of Step Six. Not the removal — the readiness. That is the part that belongs to us.
- Humility is not self-loathing. Asking humbly means asking honestly, without bargaining over which defects we would rather keep.
- The rock is usually familiar. Most people already know what theirs is before the morning starts.
